Candles are one of the oldest ways to supply a light. Candles usage goes back as far as to 3000 years BC. It is believed that first candles have been used in ancient Greece and Egypt, but the oldest fragment of candle to have been found is much younger, it is about 2000 years old and it was found in Avignon, France. Ways of making candles have been changing over time, at first candles were made from animal fat and whale oil, but around 18th century paraffin based candles were invented. Today candles are not used as a mean to supply a light, they have been replaced with electricity, but they are still used in decorative and relaxing purposes.
